The Natural Music Institute aims to create a body of work that invites intimacy with the natural world. Music goes beyond borders, language, and policy to connect to people’s hearts. The haunting sounds of disappearing ecosystems, soulful music composed by artists who are listening to the land, and energetic dialogue focused on the power of listening can educate and inspire people and contribute to the climate change movement, and the environmental movement as a whole. NMI is an international and interdisciplinary organization that explores the relationship between music and nature through nature-based recording projects, collaborations between musicians and scientists, and listening workshops for the public.
